J-pop girl group NMB48 debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100, dated Aug. 12 to 18, with "Boko e Kaere!" The Osaka-based group's 21st single led this week's physical sales with 231,304 copies sold and took the top spot powered mostly by this metric.

As predicted last week, Kenshi Yonezu bows at No. 2 with "Uma to Shika," the theme song he wrote for the TBS drama series No Side Game. The song was downloaded 172,594 times during the chart week and leads the metric, while coming in at No. 4 for radio airplay and No. 18 for Twitter mentions.

Yonezu bumps RADWIMPS' "Ai ni dekirukoto wa mada arukai" down from the top spot for downloads, where it reigned for four weeks straight. Downloads for the song from the Weathering With You soundtrack fell by about 10 percent from last week's 40,325 units to this week's 36,147, but video views are still going strong with an increase of about 5 percent from 4,996,730 to 5,274,469 views. The track stays in the top 10, shifting 5-7 on the Japan Hot 100.

Official HIGE DANdism's "Pretender" and "Shukumei" hold at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. Downloads and streaming for "Shukumei" increased again this week while "Pretender" holds steady, so the band's latest single is gradually closing in on the older long-running hit in terms of overall points and could switch places in the near future.

Southern All Stars soar 94-8 with "Ai wa Slow ni Chottozutsu," which became available for download this week. The song comes in at No. 3 for the metric with 33,481 units while also leading radio airplay, proving once again that the 40-years-and-running J-pop veterans still appeal strongly to today's listeners.

The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups and audio streams from Amazon Music Unlimited, Apple Music, AWA, Google Play Music, KKBOX, LINE MUSIC, Rakuten Music, RecMusic provided by Gfk Japan, as well as dHits and Uta Pass, and karaoke data from Daiichikosho and XING.
