In May, NCT 127 shared their sweeping “Highway to Heaven” with the world through a special black-and-white music video. Zane Lowe then premiered the new variant on July 18 on Beats 1 Radio, and the music video was released on Friday (July 26) as an Apple Music exclusive.

“We actually filmed it in L.A. It was really hot. It took two days for us to film it," the group told Lowe. "We had a great time...the choreography is very nice as well and we cannot wait for our fans to like it.”

The new lyrics thematically diverge from the Korean version of “Highway to Heaven,” which focused largely on success and potential, while the English one is more romantic. It references U.S. Route 101, the highway that connects the west coastal states of the U.S., as a path to take with an object of affection.

“Highway to Heaven” was originally released on the act’s May We Are Superhuman EP, fronted by the song “Superhuman.” The album debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200. Upon the release, NCT 127 tweeted that they hope their fans, NCTzen, “love it as much as we do.”
