Tomohisa Yamashita's new single, "CHANGE," and Spitz's "Yasashii Anoko" competed for the No. 1 spot on this week's Billboard Japan Hot 100, dated June 17 to 23, with the popular Johnny's solo singer's latest release coming out on top.

"CHANGE" led physical sales with 91,020 CDs sold and came in at No. 5 for downloads with 19,217 units sold, while "Yasashii Anoko" led downloads with 58,239 units and came in at No. 3 for physical sales with 26,208 copies sold.

"CHANGE" also took No. 1 for Twitter mentions, and "Yasashii Anoko" ruled radio airplay. While both songs showed their respective strengths across the various metrics of the chart's measurement, "CHANGE" won the close race by a difference of 1,547 points overall.

Meanwhile, Masaki Suda's "Machigaisagashi" and Official HIGE DANdism's "Pretender" continue to compete as well, with the former's lead in video views (No. 1) and downloads (No. 2) holding the latter (No. 1 for streaming) at bay on the tally.

After a media blitz promoting their new album, 834.194, Sakanaction's new song, "Wasurerarenaino," soared 80-5 on the Japan Hot 100, coming in at No. 2 for radio and Twitter, No. 4 for downloads, No. 6 for streaming and No. 15 for video views.

"Wasurerarenaino" is a track off the five-member band's latest album that hasn't been released as a single, meaning the song isn't eligible to include physical sales and look-ups -- the number of times a CD is ripped to a computer -- to the overall chart count. But two other songs in this week's top 10 -- Kenshi Yonezu's "Spirits of the Sea" and King Gnu's "Hakujitsu" -- also fit this category, reflecting the steady shift away from physical formats in the way people listen to pop music in Japan.

The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups and audio streams from Amazon Music Unlimited, Apple Music, AWA, Google Play Music, KKBOX, LINE MUSIC, Rakuten Music, RecMusic provided by Gfk Japan, as well as dHits and Uta Pass, and karaoke data from Daiichikosho and XING.
