Japan's Gen Hoshino Kicks Off 'POP VIRUS' Domestic Dome Tour in Osaka
J-pop singer-songwriter Gen Hoshino kicked off his five-stop, eight-concert domestic POP VIRUS dome tour Saturday (Feb. 2) at the Kyocera Dome Osaka.
The multi-talented pop star's only live show last year was his double-headlining concert with Mark Ronson in December.
Lucky fans who managed to score tickets to see the "Koi" singer's highly anticipated solo-headlining tour packed the 40,000-capacity Osaka dome, bubbling with excitement before the show began and erupting in cheers when he appeared onstage.
Hoshino delivered a three-hour set centered around songs from his highly acclaimed new album, POP VIRUS, including the title track, "Idea," and his Billboard Japan song of the year from 2017, "Koi."
In between songs, he told the crowd how pleased he was about the tour, expressing his gratitude for making it possible, and was showered with joyful applause from his loyal fans.
Gen Hoshino's sold-out dome tour continues throughout this month and wraps up in Fukuoka on March 10.
