Martin Garrix Surprises Chinese Fans at Creamfields Hong Kong: Watch Video
Winner of DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs in 2017 and 2018, Martin Garrix recently surprised his Chinese fans at Creamfields Hong Kong. The session, planned by the Sony Music Asia team, intended to promote the Dutch DJ's Chinese social media Weibo page, the site where his Chinese fan community is most active.
Prior to the event, a social media campaign was released to look for Garrix's top fans. Several winners were invited backstage to speak about and film their stories of Garrix's shows, and were shocked when the DJ showed up to greet them. The session ended with fans in tears of joy.
Fans were ecstatic to see Garrix's kindness and appreciation toward his Chinese fans, who travel across the world to see his shows. Fans commented with sentiments such as "This is the type of artist that deserves our love," "Come to China more often," and "This video made a grown man cry."
Garrix began frequently touring China several years ago, and his audience grew rapidly. Other top DJs have also been visiting to focus on developing themselves within the Chinese market. Because international social media platforms are unavailable in China, many of them have even chosen to set up Chinese social media pages to connect with local fans.
Garrix's recent single "Dreamer" features Mike Yung, a viral subway singer, and tells a story of pursued dreams. The message parallels the way Martin has achieved his success through hard work and unyielding determination. "It is not an easy journey for Martin, there is a lot to learn from him," one Chinese fan said.
