Veteran rockers GLAY wrote the official song for the Japan Special Olympics team, called "Your Song," which was played for the first time at the Special Olympics Unified Cup Chicago tournament last week.

The inaugural Unified Cup presented by Toyota took place from July 17 through 21 as part of the Special Olympics 50th Anniversary Celebrations that took place in Chicago. GLAY's frontman TERU, who wrote the song, flew to Chicago to watch the games and support team Japan.

TERU says that he first learned of the Special Olympics through a conversation he had with former World Cup footballer Hidetoshi Nakata. He wrote the song with the athletes, their families and supporters in mind, and included a singalong part so that by singing in unison, everyone's feelings would be heightened and become one.

A documentary of the team's efforts leading up to the tournament and TERU's participation in Special Olympics anniversary events will be aired in Japan on the BS Nippon satellite channel on Aug. 11.
