Awesome City Club

Awesome City Club, the Japanese pop band that has quickly gained prominence since their major-label debut in 2015, played an acoustic show at Billboard Live Tokyo on Sunday (Jan. 14).

The five-member band formed in 2013 and is known for its trademark sleek "city pop" sound. They have released four albums in the two years since their debut. The band performed sporadic acoustic engagements in smaller venues last year alongside their regular concert tour, and the unplugged renditions of familiar hit songs were well received by fans.

The setlist for the special New Year's Billboard Live show included standards as well as fan favorites from the acoustic concerts, and the band also performed a new song, "Moeru Hoshi" (Burning Star), for the first time.

The one-night-only performance, called Awesome Talks Acoustic Show 2018: New Year Special, will be released as a live DVD included in the limited first edition of their upcoming as-yet-untitled EP on March 14.
