Sandaime J Soul Brothers from EXILE TRIBE

"J.S.B. HAPPINESS" by <a href="/music/sandaime-j-soul-brothers">Sandaime J Soul Brothers from EXILE TRIBE</a> takes the No. 1 spot on this week's Billboard Japan Hot 100 dated Dec. 11 to 17, selling 105,675 CDs in its first week. The seven-member vocal and dance group comes in at No. 1 for physical sales and look-ups, No. 3 for radio airplay, No. 6 for downloads, No. 12 for Twitter mentions, and No. 17 for streaming, accumulating points in a balanced way to take the top spot on the latest Japan Hot 100.

At No. 2 is <a href="/music/Hikaru-Utada">Hikaru Utada</a>'s "Anata," rising from No. 3, where it debuted last week. The song had an overwhelming lead in download points last week and maintains the top spot again this week, and it's also doing well in other metrics such as radio airplay (No. 1), video views (No. 11) and Twitter (No. 17).

This week's most streamed song is veteran pop-rock band <a href="/music/Spitz">Spitz</a>'s "Kaede." This song first came out in 1998, but it's currently being featured in a tea commercial and enjoying chart action again almost 20 years after its release. It lands in the Japan Hot 100 top 10 this week, jumping up to No. 6 from No. 28. It's at No. 2 for downloads and No. 13 for video views and also fares well in Twitter and radio.

Speaking of resurgent hits, "Dancing Hero" by Yoko Oginome discos its way back into the Japan Hot 100 top 10, rising to No. 9 from No. 11. The singer has been invited to perform the song on various TV programs this month, and the hype has kept the song coasting along at No. 2 for video views.

You know it's the holiday season in Japan when you start hearing Tatsuro Yamashita's classic hit "Christmas Eve" everywhere. The ultimate Japanese Christmas song was first released in 1983 and has consistently been a beloved staple of year-end playlists. The song rises to No. 18 from No. 33 on the Japan Hot 100, garnering points mostly through radio (No. 15) and downloads (No. 20), but also doing well in terms of CD sales (No. 31).

A more recent Christmas favorite by the band <a href="/music/back-number">back number</a>, simply called "Christmas Song," comes in at No. 26 on this week's chart, performing better than "Christmas Eve" in downloads (No. 5), radio (No. 11) and Twitter (No. 21).

The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups and audio streams from Apple Music, AWA, Google Play Music, KKBOK, LINE MUSIC, Rakuten Music, Recochoku provided by Gfk Japan, as well as streaming counts based on lyrics displayed on PetitLyrics.
