Alternative-pop duo and real-life sweethearts Veronica and I successfully launched their self-titled debut EP and the music video for their first single, "Elope," directed by Mark Noel Delica.

The EP is an independently produced effort that will be digitally distributed by MCA Music, Inc. Fellow Filipino artists Tanya Markova, IV of Spades, Hilera and Paranoid City were the guest performers.

"We were together for eight years when we decided to join forces musically. For the longest time, we belonged to separate bands," lead singer Veronica Macato recalled.

Guitarist Mike Ducusin continued: "Then, we both didn't have bands. We just wanted to keep doing and writing music, so Veronica wrote songs, and I did the arrangement for them."

Veronica explained: "During that time, my all-female band he tried to form and manage just disbanded. Then he left (instrumental post-rock trio) Pulso because he couldn't cope with the schedules. So we decided to do something that we can still do at our own pace so that we can also do what we want to do."
The 12-year-old marriage is probably one of the main reasons they have been able to mesh even though they came from different musical backgrounds.

"It's very different because we came from different backgrounds," Mike shared. "She's been doing reggae, grunge, alternative showbands. Me, I'm more from the indie, Brit and new wave side of things. So, I musically grew up in the '80s while Veronica did in the '90s, so we combined those influences and sensibilities and it turned into alternative pop."
Now that they have opened this new and exciting phase of their musical careers, they are now all set to take this further, starting with their new single. "'Elope' is all about love at a crazy level: romantic love that you feel like you're willing to go the the world's ends for," Veronica shared.
Rock and independent music has never lacked for married-couple combos, and Veronica and I are all ready to set their niche in the local music scene.
