The unlikely but true live-action film adaptation of the hit gag manga series The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. will feature a theme song by the Japanese folk-pop duo Yuzu. The single, called "Koi, Hajikemashita," will become available digitally Oct. 13, and a sort-of lyric video featuring scenes from the comedy movie has been released.

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. is a popular comic being serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since 2012. The collected paperbacks have sold over 5 million copies to date, and an animated TV series and video game based on the series have been produced.

Directed by Yuichi Fukuda, a slapstick comedy master, the live-action stars the versatile Kento Yamazaki as Kusuo, a high school student who tries to hide his incredible psychic powers and live a normal life.

"Koi, Hajikemashita" is an upbeat pop number featuring Yuzu's harmonic vocals, and the music video graphically displays parts of the catchy lyrics over scenes from the upcoming feature. The visuals tease the array of colorful side characters that appear in the comic, and so far it looks like the movie manages to capture the silly humor of the original work in a visually innovative way.

Yuzu is currently on tour, playing only hall-sized venues for the first time in five years. The duo will perform in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan later this year, and will release two live DVD/Blu-rays of their dome concerts celebrating their 20th anniversary on Dec. 6.
