The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has unveiled its "Gold Disc" certifications for August 2017, including <a href="/artist/6022846/nogizaka-46/chart">Nogizaka46</a>'s Nigemizu and Bruno Mars' Unorthodox Jukebox. Music CDs with over 100,000 shipments are officially certificated as a "Gold Disc" in Japan.
Released Aug. 9, 2017, Nogizaka46's 18th single, Nigemizu, earned its second million certification within a month of its release, preceded by Influencer, which dropped earlier this spring. "Nigemizu" translates to "road mirage," and third-generation members Momoko Ozono and Yuuki Yoda held the center positions in the song's choreography.
Among the two songs certified platinum (250,000 copies) were HKT48's "Kiss Wa Matsu Shikanai No Deshou Ka?" and Gen Hoshino's "Family Song," both released in August and bowing atop the Billboard Japan Hot 100 on charts dated Aug. 14 and Aug. 28 respectively.
For albums, Keisuke Kuwata's Garakuta, which topped the Billboard Japan Hot Albums chart dated Sept. 4, and Bruno Mars' highly acclaimed sophomore album, Unorthodox Jukebox, also scored platinum certifications.
