Pikotaro has released the “tentative” music video for “Summer Sonic Ondo,” a song written in celebration of the two-day summer music festival set for August 19-20 in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan.

A mashup of “ondo” -- a type of dance song often played at Japanese summer festivals -- and EDM, the “PPAP (Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen)" star has unleashed another wacky earworm bursting with the sheer joy of being able to perform alongside such big-name artists as the Foo Fighters, Calvin Harris and The Black Eyed Peas, just to name a few.

Pikotaro’s dream to one day perform at Summer Sonic came true in February of this year when his name was announced in the fest’s lineup. He contacted the festival’s organizers, Creativeman Productions, to tell them about the song he had written, to which the CEO Naoki Shimizu responded, “Let’s use it on site!” and named it the “Official support song” of the festival.

Back in September, Justin Bieber referred to Pikotaro's “PPAP" as "My favorite video on the Internet."

Pikotaro -- a character created by Japanese comedian and DJ Kosaka Daimaou -- used the camera on his smartphone to record “Summer Sonic Ondo.” He ended up with a vertical video, which he says was a mistake (hence “tentative”), but he appears to be in no hurry to change it.
