'American Idol' Finale: Contestant Eliminated in First Five Minutes of the Show

Michael Becker / Fox
Clark Beckham, Jax and Nick Fradiani from ""American Idol XIV."

Spoiler alert: one of the top three finalists has already been given the heave-ho.

Ouch, American Idol

The Fox show wasted no time in eliminating one of the top three finalists during Tuesday night's episode. Jax, the edgy teen from East Brunswick, New Jersey, was sent home no more than five minutes into the broadcast. According to host Ryan Seacrest, the vote separating the 19-year-old from her fellow finalists Nick Fradiani and Clark Beckham was less than one percent.

The season 14 finale continues at Los Angeles' Dolby theater where Beckham and Fradiani will each sing three songs. The first, judges' choice, the second, creator Simon Fuller's pick and their individual coronation songs.

A winner will be crowned on Wednesday night.
