Ingrid Michaelson’s Songs for the Season -- which debuted Friday (Oct. 26) -- features an array of nostalgia-inducing tracks. The 12-song record boasts a classic, big-band feel and features duets with singer-songwriter Christina Perri, Nashville star Will Chase, America’s Got Talent winner Grace VanderWaal and Hamilton’s original Aaron Burr Leslie Odom Jr.

The 38-year-old pop artist opens her cozy album with the lesser-played Bing Crosby tune “Looks Like a Cold, Cold Winter,” instantly sounding like a 1950s jazz singer when accompanied by a collection of swinging trumpets. Michaelson follows the opening track with a romanticized rendition of “White Christmas” featuring smooth vocals from Perri.

Midway through, VanderWaal joins Michaelson for a traditional version of “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree." She nears the end alongside Odom with a slow, longing version of Mariah Carey's “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”

“This time of year may mean something different now than it did as a child but it’s become even more special, especially as I’ve experienced loss and heartbreak,” Michaelson said in a statement. “I want people to listen to this record and feel warm and fuzzy. I think the world needs that right now."

Ingrid Michaelson will embark on a 14-date tour in promotion of her new album Nov. 26 at Revolution Hall in Portland, Ore. The shows conclude at Michaelson’s 12th annual Holiday Hop on Dec. 17 at the Beacon Theatre in New York.
