Google Doodle Celebrates 'December Global Festivities' With Adorable Penguins Heading South

There's no place like home for the holidays, but sometimes a change of scenery isn't always a bad thing -- especially when you can be closer to the ones you love.

When visiting Google's homepage Monday (Dec. 18), an animated drawing pops up into a festive, three-part Google Doodle. The first image shows two penguins in an arctic setting calling their parrot friend, who can be seen relaxing in a warm tropical area with palm tress swaying in the background -- a cute and clever depiction of birds planning to go south for the winter.

Moving along to the next doodle, we find the two penguins packing and preparing for their tropical trip to visit their friend.

Lastly, a portrait of the two penguins with their parrot friends celebrating their reunion and time together sits beside a set of presents that are dated December 25th, 31st and January 1st. According to Google, users will be able to follow along with the birds' adventures by checking back to the Google Doodle on those dates to see what the birds have in store for the holiday.

This Google Doodle is a friendly reminder that one of the most important parts of the holidays to remember among all of the craziness is to spend time with family, friends and those we hold dear to us. No matter what holiday we celebrate, at the end of the day what makes it unique is the people we spend that cherished time with.

Check back on Dec. 25 to see what our new feathered friends are up to next.
