Ed Sheeran doubled down on spreading holiday cheer Friday (Dec. 8) during his trip to New York City. Before taking the stage at Z100's Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden, Sheeran decorated special "GingerEd" cookies with 30 special fans hand-selected by Spotify.

The event, hosted by Spotify, was properly named #SpotifyFansFirst and held alongside renowned pastry chef Dominique Ansel. Ansel first showed everyone how the best make cookies, and then Sheeran joined his Sheerios to decorate, interacting with his fans by cheerily taking pictures and signing aprons.

At Jingle Ball, Sheeran performed his Divide hits "Castle on the Hill" and "Perfect," as well as 2014's "Thinking Out Loud." Throughout his set, the U.K. singer -- who had the day before had been awarded an MBE at Buckingham Palace -- talked to the crowd about his latest single, "Perfect."

"I released a new version of this song last week, and it went No. 1 in my home country today and hopefully, fingers crossed, it's going to hit No. 1 here over the weekend," he said referring to his "Perfect" duet with Beyonce. "Perfect" is projected to likely earn the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart announced today (Dec. 11).
