H.E.R. Wins Best R&B Album at 2019 Grammys

H.E.R.,accepts the award for Best R&B Album onstage during the 61st Annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 10, 2019, in Los Angeles.

After wowing the Grammy audience with a spellbinding, breakout performance, the night got even better for the 21-year old artist born Gabriella Wilson. H.E.R. took home the Grammy award for best R&B album, thanks to her 2017 self-titled project.

As the R&B field's only nominee also represented in the "big four" categories, she must have known she stood a solid chance of taking home the prize. But she still looked surprised and speechless when her name was called out -- thanks for an introduction from K-pop superstars BTS

Wilson thanked God, her family, her label, and all other members of her team. "Thank you for all the sacrifices you made for me and for embracing my talents since I was a little girl," she said, saluting her family and noting she'd been signed to RCA since age 14.

She also pointed out that the award-winning self-titled project isn't technically an album; it's a compilation of two previous EPs and a handful of other loose tracks.

Regardless, it's earned its moment in the spotlight, as has H.E.R., who is gearing up towards her next full length project.
