Shawn Mendes & Miley Cyrus Team Up for 'In My Blood' at 2019 Grammys: Watch
Shawn Mendes seems to know how rare it is these days for a guitar slinger to get an awards show slot, and he made damn well sure his performance at the 2019 Grammys would demand attention in the crowded telecast.
Not only did he bring out vocal dynamo Miley Cyrus (who matched him sartorially in her sleeveless black vest) for a fervent run-through of his smash “In My Blood,” but he opened with a visually arresting image: Himself, seated at a cracked grand piano that glowed brighter than the briefcase in Pulp Fiction while wisps of fog drifted out. Stepping up from the ivories, he grabbed his guitar and joined Cyrus for punchy duet on his impassioned top 20 hit (it peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100). She’s a vocal ace, and he’s fast becoming an unimpeachable live pro.
“In My Blood” was up for song of the year at the 2019 Grammys, but lost to Childish Gambino's "This Is America."
