During the In Memoriam segment of the 60th annual Grammy Awards Sunday night (Jan. 28), K-pop fans noticed that the late SHINee star Jonghyun was excluded from the montage that pays tribute to numerous artists and industry personnel who passed away within the past year. Immediately following the segment, fans took to Twitter to express their frustration.
“the grammys couldn't even take one moment to honor jonghyun during the in memoriam.. really gross and pathetic of them,” one user tweeted while another stated they were “disappointed” in the Grammy’s for not including Jonghyun, who died from suicide, “especially considering the performance that followed,” of Logic’s "1-800-273-8255" which deals with mental illness and suicide.
