Watch James Corden's Parents Jam with Metallica, John Legend & Anderson Paak Backstage at the Grammys
If you’ve ever wondered how James Corden got to be so funny, we may have just found the answer. On Thursday night’s (Feb. 16) The Late Late Show with James Corden we were blessed with a segment featuring Corden’s parents -- Malcolm and Margaret -- taking us behind-the-scenes at the Grammy Awards, and they did not disappoint.
The two loveably cheeky Brits are shown cracking a few jokes at their son’s expense and trying out a bunch of bizarre, very L.A. personal beauty products in the swag tent. At one point, the Grammy show host's mother asks, “Are we going to heckle him? What should we say?” To which his father responds, “Get off!”
The jokesters learn how the stars achieve such glowing faces, grab half a dozen bottles of champagne, and take a break to hula hoop on their way backstage to hang with the stars before the show.
No one was safe from their jokes, not even those who couldn't make it, for obvious reasons. Passing a gold drum kit belonging to Prince’s backing band The Revolution, Malcolm cracks, “That could be Donald Trump’s drum kit. But I wonder whether he could hold the sticks with his small hands?”
Because their anniversary happened to coincide with their son's big hosting gig, along the way they get serenaded by Metallica and John Legend, Malcolm plays sax alongside Anderson Paak on drums, they interview Skrillex on the red carpet and Malcolm grabs kisses from every member of Cage the Elephant. And that was all before the show even started.
