Sam Hunt and Carrie Underwood perform onstage during The 58th GRAMMY Awards at Staples Center on Feb. 15, 2016 in Los Angeles, California.

Country music heavyweights came together for the 2016 Grammys’ second televised performance.

Carrie Underwood hopped onstage with Sam Hunt and duetted with the best new artist nominee on his tender, R&B-tinged jam “Take Your Time” and her own "Heartbeat."

Hunt, now sporting a plain white T-shirt after hitting the red carpet in a pink tux, opened the performance singing his own song. The camera panned to Underwood next, who later broke into "Heartbeat" (from her 2015 album Storyteller). The performance turned into a mash-up of the two as their time wore on.

2016 Grammys: Complete Coverage

Hunt tried out for the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs in 2008, so it was appropriate that he was introduced by a pair of NFL players: The San Francisco 49ers’ Anquan Boldin and Von Miller of the recent Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos welcomed him and Underwood onto the stage.

Sam Hunt is nominated for best new artist and his 2014 debut Montevallo is up for best country album. Underwood’s “Little Toy Guns” was nominated for best country solo performance.
