Compton Shows Love to Kendrick Lamar's 'Alright' in New Grammys Promo
Kendrick Lamar is doing alright. After earning 11 Grammy nominations for his sophomore studio set To Pimp a Butterfly, the unfiltered California rapper shows love to his native city in a new promo titled "Witness Greatness."
The people of Compton recite the words to his Grammy-nominated single "Alright" just before the hometown hero himself pops up to rally with them. By the short film's end, "we gon' be alright" morphs into a rallying cry.
Lamar is also up for several other categories, including best rap album, best rap/sung collaboration and best rap performance. He will be taking the stage to perform at the 58th annual Grammy Awards, airing Monday, Feb. 15, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
