Ferguson native Michael McDonald rounds out the otherwise roots-heavy lineup.

LouFest is all growns up. The nine-year-old festival out of St. Louis has announced its largest lineup to date, with 40-plus acts including a bonafide rock god, a beloved native son, gobs of indie folk and country and the pioneer of auto-tune rap dropping by the city's Forest Park on Sept. 8-9. If you guessed Robert Plant, Michael McDonald, Kacey Musgraves (among others) and T-Pain, then you'd be spot on.

This year's lineup also includes alt-rockers Modest Mouse, indie folkies The Head and the Heart, blues guitarist Gary Clark Jr., critically acclaimed country singer Margo Price, festival faves Moon Taxi, pop-rockers MisterWives and buzzy singer-songwriter Quinn XCII. Other standouts include country duo Brothers Osborne, fiery soul singer Anderson East and rock artist Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, whose frontman comes from pretty good stock.

Because of continuing renovations to its preferred home on Forest Park's Central Fields, the festival is returning a second year to the mostly asphalt Upper Muny Grounds and Festival Plaza. Organizers said the temporary home didn't affect attendance, which exceeded 60,000 for performances by Snoop Dogg, Weezer and an all-star tribute to Chuck Berry, a lifelong St. Louisan.

This year, festival producer Listen Live Entertainment is filling that need for a local fix with former Doobie Brother Michael McDonald, who hails from nearby Ferguson.

"We couldn't be more excited about the size and depth of the 2018 lineup," said Mike Van Hee, managing partner with LLE. "St. Louis loves the rock legends as much as the modern innovators and LouFest 2018 delivers on both more than ever before."
