"We're feeling pretty confident about bringing stuff pretty soon," YTG frontman Sameer Gadhia tells Billboard backstage at BottleRock Napa Valley. "We've been writing a lot, the end of last year and this year. We find ourselves getting pretty close to where we want to be for actually finally creating the record."

The band performed on Saturday, May 30, at the Napa, Calif., festival, delivering such fan-favorites on the Intel Stage as "Mind Over Matter" and "My Body."

Backstage in the Billboard Studio, Young the Giant guitarist Eric Cannata says the band enjoys spending most of its time writing and recording new tunes.

"It's starting fresh and creating new material. It's very exciting for us," Cannata says, noting that the act also loves touring. "But it gets to the point where you're playing the material you've been playing over and over again, and we try to keep it fresh, but going in and finishing the writing of this record is the most exciting thing for us."
