Since its inception, the dance world dons of Major Lazer have been heavily influenced by world sounds, from Brazilian baile funk to Jamaican dancehall and beats and basslines beyond.

Now, a new documentary captures the trio -- Diplo, Ape Drums and Walshy Fire -- voyaging to West Africa during recent tour stops in Lagos, Nigeria and Accra, Ghana. Chasing The Sound focuses on the Afrobeats genre and how it has become a global phenomenon via African artists including Sarkodie, Amaarae, Efya, Teni and Mr. Eazi, the latter of whom features on Major Lazer's most recent single, "Oh My Gawd." Watch the Chasing The Sound trailer below.

"Afrobeat has influenced the biggest pop stars that we have in America," Walshy Fire says in the trailer.

"It's an enormous scene there," follows Diplo, "that's taking over the world."

Chasing The Sound was directed by Austin Peters, who was also behind the camera on the 2016 Major Lazer doc Give Me The Future, which told the story of the trio's historical March of 2016 show in Havana, Cuba, which drew half a million attendees.

Chasing The Sound is a project by YouTube Originals, the group also behind films including the 2020 Coachella doc, and was produced by RadicalMedia, TMWRK and Underground. Chasing The Sound premieres via Major Lazer's YouTube channel on Monday, Sept. 28.
