Slated to be the biggest dance music livestream to happen yet during quarantine, Electric Blockaloo has announced that it's postponing the event for two weeks and also changing its name to Rave Family Block Fest.

Originally scheduled for June 25-28, the online festival will now take place July 9-12. This postponement, organizers explained in a June 20 announcement on social media, is because a new Minecraft update is rolling out June 23, the day that was to host the festival's group "camping" and early arrivals. The festival servers would not have worked for anyone who updated their software. "There are so many unknowns with an update of this scale, especially for Bedrock/PE Fam," reads the statement, "So we are pushing the festival back two weeks."

More than 850 artists including Bob Moses, Maya Jane Coles, Skream, Blondish, Seth Troxler, Khruangbin, MK, DJ Soda, Ekali, Felix da Housecat, Ida Engberg, Kevin Saunderson, The Knocks, Claude VonStroke, Carl Craig, MK, Paris Hilton, Rudimental, Steve Aoki and Todd Terry are scheduled to stream performances during the event.

Of the name change, organizers say that "unfortunately, the iconic Funk and Break Dancing movement we were paying homage to has been ruined by a very small group of hateful people. We’re not even naming them here because they deserve exactly zero attention or press, but wanted to give you a heads up in case being redirected to our new website caused concern."

With the original name, organizers intended to pay homage to the break dancing movement immortalized in the 1984 cult classic Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo, but inadvertently referenced the modern Boogaloo Movement, which as Vox recently reported, "is a loosely connected anti-government movement that has included some white nationalists who believe in an 'accelerationist' ideology that encourages spurring civil disorder to eventually foment the breakdown of the political system entirely."

As EB rapidly approaches, we have some great - and not so great - and sad, but true - news. The good news - The long-awaited Minecraft Nether Update is finally here, meaning new blocks, animals, and more!! The update is rolling out to everyone on June 23rd. The bad news - This means that smack in the middle of Group Camping and Early Arrival, our servers aren’t going to work for anyone who updates. There are so many unknowns with an update of this scale, especially for Bedrock/PE Fam. So we are pushing the festival back two weeks, the new start date for the festival will be July 9th. Your experience is our #1 priority, and while we are sad to delay, we are confident it's the right decision.
