'It's working from nothing and knowing you have nothing to lose,' the South African producer told host Trevor Noah.

South African sensation Black Coffee appeared on The Daily Show With Trevor Noah last night (Oct. 14) for an insightful interview about the producer's rise to worldwide fame.

"It's resilience, it's knowing hunger and it's knowing you've experienced it and you don't want to go back there," Black Coffee said of what's driven him to his current status as one of the world's hottest producers. "It's working from nothing and knowing you have nothing to lose, so whatever you gain is something. That is what has kept me going. That is what has gotten me to where I am today."

The Daily Show host Trevor Noah, who is also South African, responded with commensurate emotion, expressing about his excitement at seeing Black Coffee's name on the 2018 Coachella lineup. He then told a story about going to the set with his friends, who noted that they weren't fans of EDM, with Noah explaining to them that Black Coffee's music was different.

"It was Africa in the middle of California," Noah recalled of the show. "Everyone -- black, white -- dancing to your music. It was really beautiful."
