Nicky Romero Reveals His Childhood Crush, Applauds Billie Eilish's 'Impactful' Year: Watch

Nicky Romero recently stopped by the Billboard office to play “Fishing For Answers,” revealing who his very first celebrity crush was, who his favorite new artist of 2019 is, who his most memorable collaboration was with, and much more.

Pulling questions out of a fishbowl, Romero is prompted to recall his first celebrity crush, telling Billboard  that it was on Lizzie McGuire (played by Hilary Duff). “This could be like a generation thing, maybe some of you know who I mean, maybe some of you don't, but, it was on the show Lizzie McGuire,” he says. “I'm not even sure who played that character anymore. I feel ashamed, but it was Lizzie McGuire.”

Asked who his favorite collaboration has been with, Romero names Avicii, calling “I Could Be the One” a “really important record” because it went No. 1 in the UK and pulled him out of club music and into radio.

Romero next confesses that he is a huge Billie EIlish fan, stating that she is his favorite new artist of the year. “She has been so impactful over the last year, with not putting out radio records that everybody would expect,” he explains.

“It was just all unexpected,” continues Romero. “It's quite special. This girl does everything that nobody expects, and then still gets to 50 million…monthly listeners on Spotify. That's insane.”

In the interview, which you can check out above, Romero also divulges what the best nickname he has ever been given is, what the highlight of his career has been so far, and what the first concert he ever attended was.
