Phantogram Return With Bright New Track 'Into Happiness': Listen

The duo has also announced a 2019 tour.

It's been three years since electronic-rock duo Phantogram released its third album, Three. It was an acclaimed release, born from the pain of singer Sarah Barthel's sister's suicide. In the three years since, Barthel and partner Josh Carter have done a lot of growing, and they break their silence today (May 31) with one of their poppiest tunes so far, a ghostly celebration of joy's tiumph over depression called "Into Happiness." Phantogram has also confirmed a tour.

The duet features both members singing the end of their struggles over a road-weary rhythm. At the chorus, Barthel sings "wish you could be here," perhaps a nod to her late sister, welcoming her memory into this next chapter of her life.

In a handwritten note to fans on Instagram, Phantogram thanked fans for their patience as they worked through an arduous "personal journey ... coming out of the darkness and into the light."

In celebration of "Into Happiness," Phantogram announced a North American tour. The note says they may have a few new songs for the road, too, but we'll have to wait to hear those.

"Into Happiness" is out now on Republic Records. Listen to it and see the full list of Phantogram tour dates below.
