Vintage Culture & Adam K "Save Me"

Each week, Billboard Dance looks at songs & albums rising on Billboard's dance charts.

Vintage Culture & Adam K feat. MKLA, "Save Me"

Brazilian DJ/producer Vintage Culture (aka Lukas Ruiz) and Toronto-based DJ/producer Adam K (Adam Kershen) debut at No. 40 on Billboard's Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart (dated April 20) with "Save Me," featuring singer MKLA. It's the first appearance for Vintage Culture and the third for Adam K, whose "Twilight Vs Breathe" with Soha (featuring Haliene and Matthew Steeper) strode to No. 7 last August. "Save" is also the first Billboard chart entry for MKLA. The track takes its airplay from three core-dance affiliates, iHeartRadio's Evolution network (as monitored on WFLZ-HD Tampa, Florida), Music Choice's Dance/EDM channel and KNHC (C89.5) Seattle, according to Nielsen Music.

KEA, "Wet"

Hawaiian singer KEA (full name Kealani Tanizaki-Hudson) commands a No. 47 start on Dance Club Songs with "Wet." The Damon Elliot-produced track is the first Billboard chart entry for KEA, who won Miss Hawaii's Outstanding Teen beauty contest in 2015. "Wet" was remixed by Kue, Riddler, and Jesus Montanez, among others.

KEA tells Billboard, "Growing up in the islands of Hawaii, I was never not surrounded by a body of water. Music is my escape and through music I was able to delve into my roots for inspiration. In the song, I sing about society constantly overthinking, being too cautious, being so afraid to get your feet wet. People limit their lives, living in fear, afraid of what may come from diving beyond the shallow end of the waters. We need to focus on the aspects of life that ignite us from within.

"I know it's a cliché," KEA continues, "but life is too short, and we need to allow ourselves to let loose and have fun. I hope 'Wet' is used to represent times of celebration. We all deserve to live our lives to the fullest, so that is exactly what I am doing."

Kitty, Rose Gold

Daytona Beach, Florida, native Kitty (Kitty Ray) makes her first solo Billboard appearance, bowing at No. 9 on Dance/Electronic Album Sales with Rose Gold. Kitty features husband Sam Ray on the set's final track, "Florida," and the band of which she's a member with Ray, American Pleasure Club, on "The Window." (American Pleasure Club reached No. 15 on Heatseekers Albums in March 2018 with A Whole Fucking Lifetime of This.)
