Porter Robinson Announces 'Worlds' Performance & Lineup for Renamed Second Sky Fest
Last week, Porter Robinson announced his plan to curate a festival thrown in partnership with Coachella organizers Goldenvoice, and now, we know most of the lineup. Robinson revealed an artist a day via Twitter, breaking down his reasons for booking each. The bill includes some of Robinson's favorite modern acts, including Madeon, Cashmere Cat, G Jones, Nina Las Vegas, Anamanaguchi, Kero Kero Bonito and Wednesday Campanella. It will also be the only place Robinson performs his famous Worlds album performance in 2019.
The festival, coming to Oakland in June, is now called Second Sky, though it was originally announced as Multiverse. Organizers of an annual volunteer-run, donation-based music festival called The Multivrs Is Illuminated wrote an open letter to Porter and Goldenvoice. Their event, centered around LGBTQ artists of color, had debuted in Oakland in 2017, and they didn't take kindly to another "Multiverse" music festival in their neighborhood. Robinson acknowledged their letter and changed the name to Second Sky. The open letter post was deleted.
Second Sky comes to Oakland's Middle Harbor Shoreline Park Saturday, June 15. Presale tickets go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m., at first-come first-serve tiers ranging from $75 to $95. Check Robinson's stream of tweets about the artists on the lineup below, and visit secondskyfest.com for more info.
most of my favorite artists tend to reinvent themselves in a sincere and interesting way with each era - my favorite recent example is @kerokerobonito. their record “time ‘n’ place” was my favorite album of last year pic.twitter.com/0YWhEgl9Z3— porter robinson (@porterrobinson) March 5, 2019
G Jones is just fucking incredible. he released arguably the best dance record of last year. he and i are absolutely cut from the same cloth when it comes to how we think about live electronic shows - he’s equally obsessive about lighting, video, and art direction as i am— porter robinson (@porterrobinson) March 7, 2019
he’s channeling idm and jungle in a way that’s comprehensible and modernized but also somehow really new. it’s just so so good… he’s one of a few artists that makes me feel genuinely proud of what’s happening in electronic music right now— porter robinson (@porterrobinson) March 7, 2019
next artist — NINA LAS VEGAS. i’ve said this before but @ninalasvegas is my favorite dj. she smashes it behind the decks, has incredible dance & pop records of her own, & her label NLV Records is pushing club music forward at all times. she’s such an extremely positive influence pic.twitter.com/pFnyGUeX8e— porter robinson (@porterrobinson) March 8, 2019
next artist — CHROME SPARKS. @chromesparks has been consistently great for years; his work has felt inventive & forward thinking across multiple albums without ever losing its signature. “all or nothing” was one of the best songs of last year (and that goodbye to a world remix!!) pic.twitter.com/JNXKRDEk13— porter robinson (@porterrobinson) March 9, 2019
next artist for @secondskyfest — CASHMERE CAT. @cashmerecat is one of the people who has quietly (or not so quietly) influenced the sound of pop more than just about anybody the most in the last 5 years. he’s such a good dj and his sound is forward-thinking and unmistakable! pic.twitter.com/2G5HHMapXZ— porter robinson (@porterrobinson) March 10, 2019
next artist for @secondskyfest — WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA! Their frontwoman @KOM_I is such a fearless and infectious performer. they are one of my favorite japanese acts! they first came to my attention after the buzz of their 2016 SXSW performance pic.twitter.com/Dj5WsvdpOX— porter robinson (@porterrobinson) March 10, 2019
(there’s a lot of legends about it — the rumor was that her show got shut down by the police so she kept playing her show from the back of someone’s bike). the music is tough to classify - i recommend going to watch any of of their many spectacular music videos— porter robinson (@porterrobinson) March 10, 2019

there’s so many moments of this song and video that i’d like to call out as beautiful but it’s better if you watch it in its entirety.
at second sky, i’m going to play my only worlds live set for the year! pic.twitter.com/3xqg4GZFBy— porter robinson (@porterrobinson) March 11, 2019
