Phantoms

"Are You Up?" How many among us have sent or received that text? It's basically the millennial motto, signaling to anyone 35 and younger that it's time to get down. Three little words say so much, and it's usually far from "I love you." You don't wanna be caught catchin' feelings.

That's the vibe on the ultra-funky, super-sensual collaboration from Phantoms and Shaylen. The California duo takes the popular sentiment, pours it over a club-ready rhythm and decorates it with radio-friendly composition. It's also the first single from a forthcoming EP due out in spring.

“It’s about those late night loves we’ve all had from time to time," reads a joint statement from Phantoms to Billboard Dance. "It’s not necessarily a good or bad thing, but you both know it’s not going be more. Working with Shaylen on this the track was incredible. She’s extremely talented and her voice complemented the sultry late-night vibe of track perfectly.”

“I’ve definitely gotten my share of those late night ‘are you up’ texts," Shaylen adds. "Sometimes, I’ve responded. Other times, not so much. I like how conversational ‘Are You Up’ is. It’s honest and doesn't try too hard.”

Like most of the duo's work, it gets stuck in your head instantly. Learn to sing along with Phantoms and Shaylen's "Are You Up" with the lyric video below.
