Axwell Needs 'Nobody Else' to Hit a Perfect Groove On New Track: Exclusive

Olav Stubberud

Everyone's getting excited about the Swedish House Mafia reunion tour, but when was the last time you let Axwell jam you out solo? He stayed busy during the trio's five-year hiatus alongside fellow SHM-member Sebastian Ingrosso releasing strings of hits as Axwell & Ingrosso. It's been a couple years since he released his last solo single "Belong," but today, he's back with some serious heat to prove that, while he may like working with others, but he don't need "Nobody Else."

“I wanted to make something that sorta reminded me of the good old times," Axwell tells Billboard Dance, "nice chords and soulful vocal, but not just relying on nostalgia and sounding dated when I play it out."

Axwell made that mark and then some. It's got plenty of room for DJs to show off their mixing skills, but it also has a solid foundation of bass, beat and melody to rock you through a personal dance party anywhere, anytime. It's not too big or too intimate. It lives squarely in the Goldilocks zone of grooves.

Of course, Swedish House Mafia is back together. Four festival dates were recently revealed for European summer dates in 2019, joining previously-announced shows in Stockholm and Mexico City. More dates are to be announced, and we sincerely hope "Nobody Else" makes its way into rotation.

The new Axwell single is out everywhere Friday, Nov. 30 on Axtone/Ultra, but you can get carried away with it a day early below, exclusively on Billboard Dance.
