Kayzo & Underoath Growl on Dance-Metal Hybrid 'Wasted Space': Listen

Joe Larkin
Kayzo and Underoath

Take one look at Kayzo, with his spider-web wrist tattoos and penchant for jean jackets, and you can almost smell the musty metal bar in his aesthetic. It's totally a good thing, especially when his roots seep into his own body of work. Today, he celebrates Halloween with a deliciously devious bit of menace, a new collaboration with Florida metal gods Underoath.

"Wasted Space" sits at the intersection of metal and bass. It builds over a hearty synth line as singer Spencer Chamberlain lets loose his signature growl. A chaotic drum pattern builds the tension toward a dubstep hook, punctuated by Chamberlain's throatiest screams. It's pure dance-punk rowdiness, certainly something fresh to excite fans of both artistic camps.

There's plenty more dance-metal hybrids from Kayzo to come. It's a new frontier for the producer to explore all his influences. Check out "Wasted Space" below.
