Nile Rogers Says He and Avicii Recorded 'At Least' Ten Records Together in New Interview
Rodgers has worked with some of the biggest names in music, from Daft Punk to Madonna, not to mention his own iconic group Chic. In 2014, he released a track called "Lay Me Down" with Avicii, but that wasn't the end of their creative collaboration. Rodgers now says he has recorded at least ten songs with the Swedish icon, but it may still be a while before fans hear those grooves.
“I’ve just been contacted about putting out my stuff, but I’ve got to see how it is because I was very close to Tim and the music we didn’t put out was extraordinary," Rodgers is quoted. "He was blown away, as was I...but, because of what I know, which I will not talk about, I want to make sure that whatever work I do would be to the benefit of the people Tim would want that project to benefit.”
Avicii's family is rightfully discerning in the way his memory is honored. The producer gave the world an illustrious catalog in his 28 years, and he notably strived for the best. Releasing music without his verbal approval is a touchy subject, one Rodgers legend seems to respect.
“We laughed all the time," Rodgers says. "I used to say, ‘You put Tim and I in a room, and we can do the entire Top 20 in, like, two or three weeks.'"
Avicii passed away of an apparent suicide in April of this year.
While many artists have paid tribute to his memory, Avicii's family stated that any word of a posthumous album are at this time "just rumors." Those looking to remember Avicii and his legacy can share memories and stories on his website, which his family converted to a digital memory board.
