Billboard Dance Chart Upstarts: Ummet Ozcan x Laurell, Fisher & Mono Mind
Each week, Billboard Dance looks at songs & albums rising on Billboard’s dance charts.
Ummet Ozcan x Laurell, “Change My Heart”
Dutch/Turkish DJ/producer Ummet Ozcan, teaming with Vancouver-based singer Laurell, leaps onto Billboard’s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart (dated Sept. 1) at No. 34 with “Change My Heart.” It’s Ozcan’s third appearance and first in nearly three years, following “Revolution” (with R3HAB and NERVO, No. 3, 2014) and “The Hum” (with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, No. 28, 2015). “Change” is also the second chart action for Laurell, who was featured on Tritonal’s “Good Thing” last year (No. 33, December 2017). The track takes its airplay from core-dance stations, including KNHC (C89.5) Seattle, iHeartRadio’s Evolution network (as monitored on WFLZ-HD Tampa, Florida) and SiriusXM's BPM, according to Nielsen Music.
Fisher, “Losing It”
Australian DJ Fisher (real name: Paul Fisher) finds his first Billboard hit, debuting at No. 43 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and at No. 48 on Dance Club Songs with “Losing It.” The tech house anthem earned 296,000 U.S. streams and sold 1,000 downloads in the tracking week ending Aug. 23. Fisher, who played the track at Coachella, is also one half of the duo Cut Snake, with Leigh Sedley.
Mono Mind, “LaLaLove”
Sweden-based Mono Mind starts at No. 39 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay with "LaLaLove," the conglomerate’s third chart hit. The act, described on its website as "a musical laboratory where everything is possible," scored a No. 2 peak on the Nov. 11, 2017 chart with “Save Me a Place” and reached No. 15 on April 21, 2018 with “I Found My Soul at Marvingate.” “LaLaLove” collects 91 percent of its airplay from SiriusXM's BPM, with the remainder stemming from WCPY-FM Chicago. With remixes from DJ Kue, Hugel, and Stash Konig, among others, the song is also poised to debut on Dance Club Songs soon.
