Need something deep for your mood this weekend? Gorgon City want to soundtrack your slide into the off-hours with its stellar sophomore album Escape. It's a versatile package from the duo, though it keeps its many hues in a color pallette that won't stray too far from UK garage roots. That's all to say, this is some danceable stuff, and though it moves from dark to tropical, it's always good for the hips.
It's immediately funky on the nocturnal rhythm of album opener "Kingdom," featuring a raspy performance from indie-pop artist Raphaella. It's followed by the smashing groove "Real Life" alongside fellow UK king Duke Dumont and coy vocalist NAATIONS. The latter comes back around on the album's most recent single "Let It Go," a neon noir club beater designed to make you sweat in love. It gets the video treatment from Mikhail Mehra, the same director behind Major Lazer and DJ Snake's hit "Lean On."
