Markus Schulz Taps Capital Cities' Sebu For Summery Pop Single: Exclusive
This summer is one of the hottest on record. Time to cool down with some coastal dance-pop jams.
Markus Schulz answers the call on his most summery single to date. "Upon My Shoulders" sees the house DJ and producer lean on acoustic guitar melodies and the hook work of Capital Cities' Sebu. It's a breezy, sugary bit of sweetness that might surprise from of Schulz' biggest fans. It even has some pop rock bounce in its chorus.
"I always wanted to write a song about what I see and feel when I am playing at festivals all around the world in front of thousands of people," Schulz says in an emailes statement. "The chorus from 'Upon My Shoulders,' includes, 'carrying you upon my shoulders, so you can let go.' (It) expresses exactly how people feel when they come to festivals, united from all over the world. They come to festivals to live in the moment. They hold up flags representing their country. They hold each other on their shoulders, sing along, dance and are full of positive energy. "Upon My Shoulders" is about them, no matter where they are from, or what genre or nationality. We live united in a world we create for ourselves, and leave all the worries behind."
Schulz was just announcd as a phase 1 headliner for Groove Cruise 2019, which takes off from his home base of south Florida in early January. "Upon My Shoulders" is the first single from Schulz' forthcoming LP We Are The Light. It's an uplifting moment, as the song and album title suggest.
Get in the rhythm of this upbeat step and see if you don't fly a little warmer.
