Billboard Dance Chart Upstarts: NOTD Feat. Bea Miller, Dynoro & Gigi D'Agostino, deadmau5
Each week, Billboard Dance looks at songs & albums rising on Billboard's dance charts.
NOTD feat. Bea Miller, "I Wanna Know"
Swedish production duo NOTD (Samuel Brandt and Tobias Danielsson) notches its first top 10 on any chart as "I Wanna Know," featuring pop singer-songwriter Bea Miller, bumps 12-9 on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart (dated Aug. 4). The track is the second top 10 for Miller, whose "Young Blood" reached No. 4 in March 2015. The pop original was remixed by Alphalove, Syn Cole and Kokiri, among others.
NOTD's Danielsson tells Billboard, "This was only our second original release and we are not both out of high school yet, so it's a bit crazy to see it go on the charts like this. This whole experience has been so fun to be a part of and we've learned a lot by doing it with an artist like Bea Miller, who is now one of our good friends."
Dynoro & Gigi D'Agostino, "In My Mind"
Lithuanian DJ/producer Dynoro, teaming with Italian DJ/producer Gigi D'Agostino, debuts at No. 23 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with "In My Mind." The track is a cover of Ivan Gough and Feenixpawl's festival anthem of the same name (featuring Georgi Kay), which peaked at No. 24 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay in August 2012 and at No. 10 on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales that October. The new "Mind" marks the inaugural appearance for both European DJs, and the first stateside chart action on any Billboard list for Dynoro. Veteran D'Agostino is likely best known for his enduring hit "I'll Fly With You (L'Amour Toujours)," which made inroads on Dance Club Songs (No. 32, September 2000), the Billboard Hot 100 (No. 78, September 2001) and Dance/Mix Show Airplay (No. 39, September 2003). "Mind" has already topped European charts, hitting No. 1 on Germany Digital Song Sales and Luxembourg Digital Song Sales, as well as reaching No. 3 on Austria Digital Song Sales and No. 8 on Euro Digital Song Sales. The track's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs debut is mostly due to its 1.4 million U.S. streams in the tracking week, the majority from Spotify, according to Nielsen Music.
deadmau5 feat. Rob Swire, "Monophobia"
deadmau5 digs into Dance/Mix Show Airplay at No. 24 with "Monophobia," featuring Rob Swire. The chart's leading debut is deadmau5's first entry in five years, since "Professional Griefers," featuring Gerard Way, hit No. 22 in March 2013. The Canadian mouse-head-donning DJ/producer owns three No. 1s, "Move for Me" (with Kaskade; September 2008, for two weeks), "I Remember" (again with Kaskade; October 2009, two weeks) and "Ghosts 'N Stuff" (featuring Swire; one week, May 2010). "Monophobia," the first collaboration between deadmau5 and Swire since "Ghosts," grabs most of its airplay from three core-dance affiliates: SiriusXM's BPM, iHeartRadio's Evolution network (as monitored on WFLZ-HD Tampa, Florida) and KNHC (C89.5) Seattle.
