Zedd performs during the 2017 American Music Awards at Microsoft Theater on Nov. 19, 2017 in Los Angeles.

Zedd may have a bit of a bromance going with Liam Payne, but he's still a serious Shawn Mendes fan, too. "The Middle" producer took to social media on Tuesday (July 24) to showcase his skills on the black and whites, posting a most funkadelic rendition of the Canadian singer's "Lost In Japan."

His key work plays walking bass while maintaining the melody. It's groovy with some serious strut. He throws a lot of sass on it, fitting more notes into the piece that you'd think his fingers had room for. Let no one say Zedd isn't a real musician.

When he's not covering other pop songs, Zedd promotes his latest single "Happy Now." He teamed up with emergent talent Emily Duhé on that one. Let us not forget, Zedd promised a forthcoming collaboration with Mendes earlier this month. He's clearly got Mendes brain, and it looks good on him. We can't wait to see what the pair do together.
