Rita Ora paid tribute to Avicii Friday night (April 27) with a performance of their song "Lonely Together," the final single the DJ released before his death.

The singer spoke of Avicii and paused for a minute of silence in his honor before singing the track at the Netherlands' 538Koningsdag Festival.

"It's gonna be hard for me to sing this next song, and I'll tell you why," she told the crowd.

"I had the honor of collaborating with somebody who changed my life, and he was a really good friend of mine," she said, referring to Avicii and their "Lonely Together" collaboration, which peaked at No. 11 on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.

She continued, "I haven't sang his song that we did together ever since he passed away, until today."

Avicii, born Tim Bergling, died at the age of 28. A statement released by his family indicates his cause of death was suicide.
