Zedd Lets Fans Inside His Head While Creating Song Inspired By 'One Strange Rock' National Geographic Series: Watch
"I think every little detail you add into a song is part of the reason why you like it so much."
That's how Zedd intros the behind-the-scenes look at his new composition inspired by National Geographic's Earth-centric special One Strange Rock. The miniseries, hosted by Will Smith and produced by Jane Root through her production company Nutopia, features incredible footage of our beautiful planet from extreme close-ups to visions from outer space, and much as the Grammy-winning producer notes, when we really decide to tune in, it's the details that make us fall in love with our planet. It's also these details that inspired Zedd's song for the series.
It all started with a soft melody on piano, and as Zedd expains, it's not about creating a Zedd song, it's about creating something that matches the wonder of the reel. Zedd has always wanted to work in the scoring world, and as a big-time fan of One Strange Rock director Darren Aronofsky, it was the perfect open door.
Fans are going to love hearing Zedd share his creative thought process. He put great thought and intention into each progressive chord, and getting this look inside his composition amplifies the enjoyment. It's a strong story from start to finish, just like the history and future of our beautiful home.
Check the behind-the-scenes features below, and look out for One Strange Rock, Mondays at 10 pm ET / 9 pm PT, on National Geographic.
