Daya and RL Grime

RL Grime has always kept a certain darkness in his groove, but he opened the curtains and let th sun come streaming in on "I Wanna Know," his poppiest tune to date, alongside Daya, a woman who knows a thing or two about bridging the dance-pop divide.

The trap drums are still there, the bass still pumps through hard, but there's electric guitar and catchy hooks and even pretty refrains. It's a new era dawning, and the Grimester is stoked on it.

"I've been a big fan of Daya from the jump," RL Grime is quoted in a press release. "We first met when I helped produce her latest single, 'New,' and have been friends since. She has an incredibly unique and powerful voice, so when I first made the song I knew she'd be perfect for it. I sent her the demo, we met up the next day, and she knocked it out the park."

"I Wanna Know" is, as far as we know, the first taste from RL Grime's forthcoming album. The LP is finished and almost ready for release, according to tweets the producer shared earlier this week. There's a funky lyric video to accompany the singe's release. Sing along with the new sound below, and look out for more about the album coming soon.
