Nicky Romero

Since 2012, Nicky Romero has made his name as not only a DJ but a thoughtful talent-seeker and curator as head of his label Protocol Recordings. It's given birth to hits including Calvin Harris & Romero's "Iron," NERVO & Romero's "Like Home," Stadiumx' "Howl At The Moon" and Tommy Trash's "HEX," and today, it celebrates its 100th release with a very special collaboration from Romero and Spyder.

"'PRTCL' is the return of the old sound but in a new way," Romero tells Billboard. The record was first teased in the final episode of Protocol Radio for 2017 -- and you know it's a milestone moment when the track is named after the label. It's a classic big house anthem, a bit of a throwback to the sounds of the scene when the label began, with just enough modern edge to bring the vibe back to today. You can actually hear the cryo guns going off when the drop hits.

Romero adds, "It feels like the industry is craving original sounding records more than ever and that’s what I wanted to achieve with this milestone release. It’s an amazing feeling to have reached 100 releases on my own label and I want to thank all the producers, every person who’s been involved behind the scenes and of course my fans. Here’s to the next 100!"

The song is out everyone on Protocol Friday, Jan. 12, but you can listen to "PRTCL" in full below, exclusively on Billboard Dance
