Tragedy struck during the Atmosphere Festival in Esteio, Brazil, on Sunday (Dec. 17) when a strong gust of wind caused a stage to collapse at the EDM fest, reportedly killing 30 year-old DJ Kaleb Freitas. Fan-shot video of the incident shows the scaffolding and lighting rig on a stage collapsing and falling down as the audience looks on in shock.

A Facebook statement from organizers does not specifically name any victims, but a translation reads: "We always cherish the security of our audience, following all the processes, reports and authorisations requested by the local authorities. And to our audience we will keep them informed of all our actions to keep the truth about the facts that have occurred. Anyway, we're sorry, we lost a friend, an artist. Our priority is to assist the wounded and their families. We thank the military brigade and the fire department for all assistance." The post also features a black ribbon and the word "Luto," which translates into "mourning" in Portuguese.

A Facebook page in tribute to Freitas -- who lived in Porto Alegre, Brazil -- has quickly filled with dozens of tributes to the DJ, with a headline that reads "we hope people who love Kaleb will find comfort in visiting his profile to remember and celebrate his life." The local paper Gauchazh reports that Freitas died after suffering head trauma from the falling scaffolding, dying shortly after the accident, which also injured three others.

Billboard was unable to reach a spokesperson for the event at press time to confirm the details of the incident.
