Following "It Ain't Me," her successful song alongside electronic producer Kygo, Selena Gomez opened up about her forthcoming collaboration with fellow dance dude Marshmello on Zane Lowe's Apple Music show.
It turns out she first heard a rough version of the song while in Japan. Andrew Watt, a songwriter she's collaborated with for years, shared it with her. Watt sent the rough demo to Marshmello, and the producer worked it into something "beautiful." From there, she hopped on the lyrics, which "weirdly ... mirrored" something she was going through in Japan.
