Billboard Dance Chart Upstarts: Petit Biscuit, Crankdat & Iglooghost
Each week, Billboard Dance looks at songs & albums rising on Billboard's dance charts.
Petit Biscuit featuring Panama, "Waterfall"
French DJ/producer Petit Biscuit (real name Mehdi Benjelloun) breaks onto Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated Oct. 21) at No. 40 with "Waterfall," featuring Australian act Panama (aka Jarrah McCleary). The track accumulated 698,000 U.S. streams in the tracking week, according to Nielsen Music. It's Petit Biscuit's second showing, and Panama's first; the former's "Sunset Lover" hit No. 13 in February. Both "Waterfall" and "Sunset" hail from the act's debut full-length, Presence, due Nov. 10 (Biscuit's 18th birthday). The EP Petit Biscuit reached No. 23 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums on April 15.
Ohio native Crankdat (real name Christian Smith) earns his first appearance on a Billboard chart as his debut single "Dollars" banks a No. 34 bow on Dance/Mix Show Airplay. Currently opening for Krewella on its New World Tour, the DJ/producer has become known for his diverse remix work, for the likes of Gryffin, Illenium, Fetty Wap and others. "Dollars" draws much of its radio play from three core-dance affiliates, SiriusXM's BPM, Music Choice's Dance/EDM channel and KNHC (C89.5) Seattle.
Iglooghost, Neo Wax Bloom
Irish producer Iglooghost (real name Seamus Malliagh) arrives on a Billboard chart for the first time as debut full-length Neo Wax Bloom bounds in at No. 9 on Dance/Electronic Album Sales. The set, described on the act's official Twitter as a "multicolor hyperspeed opera about little glowing beings made of gum," sold 1,000 copies.
