As a producer and songwriter that has made a name for himself remixing songs by the likes of Selena Gomez and Gorillaz, Austrian producer and songwriter filous also makes for quite the collaborator. On his second EP For Love -- out today via Ultra Music -- the 20-year old musician debuts his first set of co-written tracks.

Following the already-released “Goodbye” with Matt Kearney and “Knots” featuring klei, the EP introduces listeners to a new collaborative track with acclaimed songwriter and in-demand guest vocalist Emily Warren (The Chainsmokers, FRENSHIP). The song is a sonic departure from the set's previous tracks, with its ethereal tone and Warren’s captivating vocals, but it also offers a glimpse into the power of the two creative forces colliding during sessions in London.

“The few days I spent with [Warren] in the studio were some of the most inspiring times I had making music,” filous tells Billboard. “Emily is one of my favorite singers and writers, and it's such a great honor to have her on the EP.”

The track is a melancholic journey that takes several unexpected turns that build on both artists’ talents. The frenetic guitar in the verses seems to be heading toward a chaotic drop, when suddenly the production falls silent and Warren’s vocals break through with mesmerizing clarity. The chorus showcases filous’ skill of blending real instrumentation and electronic elements, as with the combination of the shimmery guitar melody and Warren’s vocal splices.

The track also sets itself apart with its deeper meaning about loss that gains additional weight when the artists’ personal connections are taken into consideration.

Warren reveals, “This song is about my grandfather who passed away this year. He was not fully himself for quite a while and while he was physically there, he wasn't the person he had been his whole life.”

“This one’s for you, Papa Army,” she adds.

For Love EP was released today, Oct. 6 via Ultra Music and follows his debut EP DAWN from 2015. Check out “Already Gone” below.
