NGHTMRE Blurs Melody and Bass on Carmada Collab 'Embrace': Premiere

Koury Angelo

What happens when a bass monster falls in love? It might sound like this collaboration between NGHTMRE and Carmada, or more specifically, like a danceable mix of future bass, dubstep and electro house that feels fresher than the sum of its parts.

“Embrace” comes on like a dip in warm water. Exotic percussion lures the listener in deeper, then Xavier Dunn's vocals cast love spells. It's all about the rumbling hook, though: a fat, bass-heavy hit that evolves into bright funk vibes as the song moves forward. It marks NGHTMRE's first official collaboration with Carmada, someone he's held dear as friends for some time.

"It's always fun making tunes with old friends and across oceans,” NGHTMRE says in an emailed statement. “We made some of this track while I was in tour in Australia, and I'm really happy with how it turned out ... This record is very special to me. I started it almost three years ago and have slowly been developing it with the Carmada boys into something unique.”

“Embrace” is out now on Mad Decent. Listen to it below.
