Chainsmokers Share 6 Best 'Honest' Remixes: Listen
The Chainsmokers' emotional piano ballad-turned-dance track "Honest" is a stellar listen on its own, but a new six-track official remix pack released by the duo Friday (Aug. 4) manages to take the song one step further.
Featuring reworked versions by the likes of Tritonal and more, the mix gifts fans six new ways to listen to the track, from a tropical house version to one fit for the club dance floor.
Listen below as Billboard Dance runs down the pack, track-by-track, in no particular order.
The Chainsmokers - "Honest" (Tritonal Remix)
The Chainsmokers' fellow American electronic music duo Tritonal tackles "Honest" with tropical flavor that bubbles up to a full-blown, bass-heavy drop. The result is a glittering earworm fit for music festival crowds, while still retaining all the heart-tugging emotion of the original hit.
The Chainsmokers - "Honest" (Lifelike Remix)
Lifelike offer a groovy, disco-tinged spin on the piano led Chainsmokers song, with shimmering production, pulsating synths and a steady drum kick. Here, Drew Taggert's vocals are washed over with spacey echoing effects, giving the whole track an ethereal feel.
The Chainsmokers - "Honest" (Rootkit Remix)
Things take a smoldering, downtempo turn in this Rootkit remix, before picking up with a brassy, bouncing melody after the drop. Slo-mo'd vocals add to the track's steamy new groove and showcase the track's emotive lyrics.
The Chainsmokers - "Honest" (SAVI Remix)
Time to pick things up again. Los Angeles-based and DJ and producer SAVI subs the track's original piano chords with twangy guitar strums, adding a lighthearted vibe. The drop comes in with additional percussion, and stay tuned for tropical house elements that emerge in the second verse.
The Chainsmokers - "Honest" (Gil Glaze Remix)
Gil Glaze brings listeners straight to the dance floor with this frenetic rework, which starts off with a smooth, finger-snapping beat but builds up to a club-ready jam.
The Chainsmokers - "Honest" (Maliboux & UNKWN Remix)
Don't let the slow build-up in this Maliboux and UNKWN remix fool you -- it might be the most hard-hitting one of the bunch. The track takes a delve into dubstep and hardstyle halfway in, featuring grungy, industrial electronic effects and thudding bass.
